Deepti Naval’s directorial debut gets rave reviews at Cannes

Deepti Naval is one actress who continues to charm the Bollywood fans even after a long gap hat stretched for several years. The beautiful actress who had a huge fan following with simple but wonderful roles like that in Angoor, Chasme Badoor, Saath Saath to name a few. Having been paired with the highly talented actor Farooque Sheikh she gave several hits and made a great contribution to Hindi cinema. Having taken to the field of painting and doing exceedingly well there too she has made a comeback to Bollywood.

With her powerful performance in actress Nandita Das’s “Firaaq” she now ventures into the area of direction. Having made her directorial debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival her film has received rave reviews. The film is titled “Do Paise Ki Dhoop Char Aane ki Baarish”. Shot last year during the Mumbai monsoons, the film revolves around the life of a gay lyricist, a prostitute and the prostitute’s 12 year old son who is physically challenged. The film conveys is an attempt at studying human relations and how shows the ups and downs in human life. When asked about the film Deepti Naval said, “It isn't a film simply about gays and prostitutes. It is more essentially about the ebbs and tides of human relationships. I haven't made this film only for the festival circuit. I want to reach out to filmgoers across India. The film certainly isn't typical Bollywood fare, but it is completely accessible emotionally”. Knowing Deepti Naval’s dedication and sincerity to her work this is sure t be one great film and hope this is just a stepping stone to hugely successful directorial career for her.
